Le Chapitre

About

To imagine projects freely, I needed a framework: a space where creation could emerge, take shape, and come to life. Founding an ensemble is exactly that: inventing a context in which to conceive programs, then offering that framework to the festivals and venues that welcome us, and inscribing within it the stories we want to tell.

The ensemble's name reflects this idea very simply: each project is like a new page, a story that becomes part of a wider narrative. Over time, these stories will form the artistic path of a group of musicians who play, explore, and move forward together.

Le Chapitre is dedicated to exploring repertoires on period instruments as well as contemporary ones, without aesthetic boundaries. The ensemble's lineup varies according to each project. The common thread may be the oboe, my instrument, which naturally runs through the different programs but is always eager to join with strings, voices, and anything that conveys emotion.

Finally, Le Chapitre aims to be a concrete contributor to today's cultural landscape: imagining artistically ambitious projects, yet flexible enough to adapt to varied contexts and realistic production formats. With each creation, we simply open a new…

Chapitre.

In 2016, Gabriel Pidoux co-founded the ensemble Sarbacanes, specializing in 18th-century music. Over nearly a decade, Sarbacanes performed on many French and European stages and recorded two albums, each awarded a Diapason d'Or. Building on this experience, Gabriel founded a new ensemble in 2026: Le Chapitre.

After studying oboe at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, Gabriel became, in 2020, the first oboist to be named “Revelation Instrumental Soloist” at the Victoires de la Musique Classique.
He then began a multifaceted career that led him to perform as a soloist and recitalist as well as in opera pits. Chamber music holds an important place in this path, whether in duo with pianist Jorge González Buajasán, in oboe trio, or in collaboration with other musicians.

His discography reflects the breadth of his activities:

  • "Routine", Oktav Records, 2026 - with pianist Jorge González Buajasán and bassoonist Marie Boichard
  • Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante, Alpha Classics, 2026 - with Nicolas Baldeyrou, David Guerrier, David Doucot...
  • "Recto Verso", Oktav Records, 2025 - with Sarbacanes
  • "Pyrotechnies", Oktav Records, 2024 - with Sarbacanes
  • Mozart Concerto, Alpha Classics, 2022 - with the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg
  • "Romance", Alpha Classics, 2022 - with pianist Jorge González Buajasán
